July 2008 – Present: Internal Auditor – Co-Op, XL Capital Ltd.  Hartford CTPerformed operational and financial audits, completed tests in accordance with Internal Audits Standards. Completed process review documentation for assigned audit areas, including flowcharts, written control assessments and narrative descriptions. Prepared technical documents, work papers, and reports that satisfy audit program requirements and effectively support the results of fieldwork.

 

May 2007 – January 2008: Buyer / Equipment Specialist – U.S. Navy, Department of Public Works, Groton Submarine Base, CT - Procured $50,000-$100,000/month of unique tools, custom pipefitting and electrical equipment and specialized vehicles.  Negotiated prices, scheduled deliveries and set contract terms for more than 100 vendors.  Communicated equipment and financial status with local managers and headquarters in Norfolk, VA. 

·         Saved more than $10,000 / month by negotiating more favorable pricing with high-volume vendors

·         Created Access database to better communicate part status to local managers and Public Works Director

·         Instrumental in designing and supporting snow removal plan for entire submarine base

 

June 1999 – August 2006: Missile Handling Technician, Staff Sergeant – U. S. Air Force, Vandenberg AFB, CA; F. E. Warren AFB, WY – Maintained 50 Peacekeeper Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles.  Deactivated 170 nuclear warheads as a member of an 8-person maintenance team.  Escorted Russian inspection teams to remote facilities in compliance with international treaties. Test launched intercontinental ballistic missiles 5,000+ miles on the Western Launch and Test Range.  Managed hazardous waste collection, record keeping, and disposal. Trained 30-person maintenance shop in handling hazardous materials.  Led four person teams on final closeout of launch site before lift-off. Disposed of vehicles and other assets associated with deactivation of the Peacekeeper weapon systems.

·        Finished first out of a class of 80 individuals for Airman Leadership School (management training course)

·        Managed fitness program for missile handling section of 30 individuals

·        Eliminated all deviations from hazardous waste and training program, contributing to an overall ‘Excellent’ rating on inspection
